Sleepy Monkey (Girly)

Sleepy Monkey (Girly)
Quilter: Selina Kuyp
Size: 38 x 43 inches (Baby, Crib, Child, or Wall Size)
Description: This quilt design has been a much sought after one. I make them from scrappy patchwork and coordinating fabrics. (In quilting, "scrappy" means using a variety of colours and prints.) This ensures that every one will be unique - no two quilts will be the same! This quilt is obviously geared towards girls with all the pink within it, but I also went with a trendy combination of pink and browns - it's all the rage! Button eyes on the monkey are hand sewn on prior to quilting (they can easily be removed with a snip of the thread if you do not wish to have them on the quilt). The backing is a super cute cotton monkey with numbers, ensuring that this this quilt is a learning activity too! This is sure to be a favorite for a little one that is close to your heart.
I can custom-make this quilt in any particular color scheme (you choose your border colors - and the patchwork can be scrappy OR co-ordinating). I can also personalize it by quilting the child's name into the quilt in the bottom border for $45 extra.
Technique: Machine Pieced. Machine Appliqued. Machine Quilted.
Fabrics: 100% Cotton Top. There are some cotton flannel pieces in the patchwork. Cotton Backing.
Batting:
Care: Machine wash in cold water when needed. Tumble dry or line dry.
Price: $ 219.00 CAD + $30 Shipping, Insurance & Tracking for Canada and U.S. - Elsewhere: + Shipping, Insurance, & Tracking

Sunflower Fields #2

Sunflower Fields #2
Quilter: Maria Michaels Designs
Size: 28 x 33 inches (Wall Size)
Description: As one of Island Batik's Ambassadors, in 2015 I was sent fabric and asked to design a quilt using it. I often say that fabric tells us what it wants to be. Sure enough, after looking at these gorgeous batiks a while, they did let me know. Sunflower Fields #2 is the result. - For some parts of the scene, I used whole pieces of the batiks. For others, such as the sunflowers, I cut out sunflowers, appliqued them to the quilt, then emphasized them with decorative embroidery. In fact, all the raw edges have been finished with machine embroidery. The tree was made by cutting out sections of the fabric and arranging and overlapping them to create the tree. Beyond the sunflower fields and below the mountain range, shadowy figures of forest animals can be seen. - The back is a black plaid and is interesting because it shows the colourful outlines of the entire quilt. - This original, unique design is a one-and-only piece.
A hanging sleeve has been sewn to the upper back of the quilt.
Technique: Machine Appliqued. Machine Embroidered.
Fabrics: 100% Island Batik Quality Cotton
Batting: Warm and Natural: 87.5% Natural Cotton & 12.5% Polypropylene Scrim
Care: The fabrics were all washed before being used. Wash in warm water on the gentle cycle with a gentle soap. Tumble dry on the warm setting.

The Raven

The Raven
Quilter: Deanna Jameson
Size: 19 x 30.5 inches (Wall Size)
Description: The inspiration for this quilt was Edgar Allen Poe's poem "The Raven". I had a piece of black fabric with a watermark pattern that reflected a raven's iridescent look and while thinking about various quilt designs, Poe's poem came to mind. After reading the poem again and looking at some old drawings, the following design evolved. After knocking at the door and not gaining entrance, the raven flew in through an open window and perched on the statue over the door. The raven spoke to Poe, saying "Nevermore"as Poe's departed love, Lenore, slips away to her grave where another raven stands guard. Much of the fabric is dark in color reflecting the tone of the poem so would benefit from a little spotlight to pick up the details of the three ravens in the quilt. The quilt includes a hanging sleeve for ease in displaying.
Technique: Machine Pieced. Machine Appliqued. Machine Quilted.
Fabrics: 100% cotton with some polyester used for accent pieces.
Batting: Polyester
Care: This quilt should not be washed or dry cleaned. A soft dusting device should be used.

Whimsy and Wonder
Quilter: Leilani Seidel
Size: 72 x 92 inches (Double/Full or Queen Size)
Description: Whimsy and Wonder includes red, pink, gray and blue colors throughout with neutral colours as background for the needle-turn applique and hand embroidered squares. For the embroidered blocks, each design was traced onto the fabric and then embroidered using matching colors in Presencia pearl cotton. Needle-turn hand applique was used for the frog, mushroom house, bird house, fairies and others where fabric was added to the embroidery. The 12 squares are all original designs which are very whimsical and adorable from the 6 quilt stores that participated in this charity quilt. This would be a great quilt for the little girl in you or some special person. The custom quilting was done by Krista Moser who does awesome detailed quilting in and around all the blocks to enhance the designs as well as the entire quilt. - I very much enjoyed making this quilt as it was not only fun tracing all the designs and adding the embellishments to each block but also rewarding to make as the kit came from the 2011 Quilt Aid USA charity organization supporting the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital which is committed to the UN Millennium Development Goals and particularly those directed towards improving maternal health, reducing infant mortality and empowering women. It has established the Hamlin College of Midwives to train young Ethiopian women as midwives to work in the Ethiopian countryside amongst women who presently have little or no access to medical help during their pregnancy and labour.
Included are matching pillows.
