I learned to sew in my preteen years and made clothing for myself and my children in my earlier years. In the 80s I took a college class on quilting and fell in love with it but did not actually get started on making many until the early 90s. Since then I have made so many quilts that I have lost count.I am hooked on them and love learning new techniques including making miniature quilts. It is my passion!
My husband and I live in a smoke-free, pet-free home.

Old-World Charm
Size: 96 x 97 inches (Queen or King Size)
Description: "Old-World Charm" says it all about this quilt. I found this beautiful pattern in a quilt pattern book called "Romantic Quilts". Even though the block is fairly simple it makes up into a beautiful quilt, especially with the gentle scalloped edge around the entire quilt. As shown in the pictures, it drapes nicely on my queen-size bed, almost like a bedspread. It would also work as a comforter on a king-size bed. You can utilize the matching pillow cases as pillow shams, if you wish. The back is made with various remaining fabrics used to make the blocks, so it gives it a patchwork look. The colors are a soft red flower print with matching green, red plaid, and golden yellow to give it all a soft, feminine look. I originally chose this quilt based on my fabric collection which I fell in love with, but I also wanted to do a scalloped edge instead of the standard straight-edging on the quilt. The binding is hand-stitched. I was very pleased with the end result and I know you will be too.
Included are matching standard-size pillow cases which also can be used as pillow shams.

Summer Stars
Size: 68 x 67 inches (Lap/Throw Size)
Description: This is an awesome Star Block that was fun to make. The block design is from the Missouri Star Quilt Company and is called "Disappearing Hour Glass". The block starts out looking like an hourglass using two colors, then you cut it up and rearrange the sections and "WOW!", you now have a very pretty star! I chose a fabric collection from Moda called "Woodland Summer" by Holly Taylor. This made a beautiful red, white, and blue quilt that is great for a small bed or just the perfect size for cuddling under on a cold winter day with a good book.
Has a nice all-over stipple quilting design that adds loft to the quilt and gives a cozy feel to it.

Tropical Geese
Size: 64 x 80 inches (Lap/Throw Size)
Description: This quilt was such a joy to create. I used a Jelly Roll of bright tropical batiks along with a rich royal blue for the inner border and 'geese'. The pattern was one of the many from Missouri Star Quilt company. This particular block is called the 'Flying Geese Log Cabin' block. I chose a different layout than shown in the tutorial and was very pleased with the results. It is a very colorful quilt that will make a wonderful, cheery accent to any room or draped across a bed. Remember, Christmas is just around the corner....

Description: This is a beautiful little vintage-style table topper. Soft but rich colors of red, green, brown, blue have been used along with black for the birds. It was a real pleasure to make this table topper with a Churn Dash Block in the center. I especially enjoyed appliqueing the flowers and birds and seeing the attractive vine design come to life. This topper will also look great as a wall hanging for a hallway accent, bedroom, or reading room.
If desired for a wall hanging, I will attach a hanging sleeve at no extra cost.

Whimsy and Wonder
Size: 72 x 92 inches (Double/Full or Queen Size)
Description: Whimsy and Wonder includes red, pink, gray and blue colors throughout with neutral colours as background for the needle-turn applique and hand embroidered squares. For the embroidered blocks, each design was traced onto the fabric and then embroidered using matching colors in Presencia pearl cotton. Needle-turn hand applique was used for the frog, mushroom house, bird house, fairies and others where fabric was added to the embroidery. The 12 squares are all original designs which are very whimsical and adorable from the 6 quilt stores that participated in this charity quilt. This would be a great quilt for the little girl in you or some special person. The custom quilting was done by Krista Moser who does awesome detailed quilting in and around all the blocks to enhance the designs as well as the entire quilt. - I very much enjoyed making this quilt as it was not only fun tracing all the designs and adding the embellishments to each block but also rewarding to make as the kit came from the 2011 Quilt Aid USA charity organization supporting the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital which is committed to the UN Millennium Development Goals and particularly those directed towards improving maternal health, reducing infant mortality and empowering women. It has established the Hamlin College of Midwives to train young Ethiopian women as midwives to work in the Ethiopian countryside amongst women who presently have little or no access to medical help during their pregnancy and labour.
Included are matching pillows.
