Barbara Buck
Barbara Buck
I have always loved to sew but only started quilting about 12 years ago. Believe me when I say that I found my "passion". I have made quilts for holidays and special occasions such as weddings, graduations, housewarmings and birthdays. I always use 100% cotton quilt-shop quality fabric for the front and back and carefully construct my quilts to endure many years of "love". My husband and I retired to a small rural town in Eastern Oregon (pop. 670) where the winters are long and cold and there is not much to do. We live 100 miles from everywhere so this affords me lots of free time to pursue my passion for quilting. We have a precious German Shorthaired Pointer named Abby, but neither she nor my husband is allowed in my smoke-free studio.

The quilt, Adopt A Puppy, arrived today and I am over the moon about it!!! It is gorgeous!!!! My husband was upstairs watching football and came running when I screamed with delight!!! All I know to say is that you are one talented quilter and God has blessed you with a talent and I feel blessed to have this quilt for my precious granddaughter!! Thank you so much and I truly believe I was led to your quilts by a power greater than us. My only problem is I hope I can keep it a secret until Christmas!! I am so excited! I LOVE it and you are now a member of my family whether you want to be or not! Haha. Thank you again. - With my best regards, J. K, North Carolina.

" The ponies were galloping! The mail arrived right as I was leaving for work yesterday! Opened the box last night when I got home. That quilt (A Frog's Story) is so awesome!!! Barb, your talent is amazing. I can't wait to give it to Lincoln. I have the cutest little stuffed frog to go with it. - Janice Stevenson

The 5 quilts . . . you made - Americana, A Passion for Purple, Briar Patch, Everglade, and Milky Way came today. They are all amazing. You are so talented . . . beautiful. I really like them.I want you to know how much I appreciate you, your professionalism .and your quilts. I so enjoy purchasing these beautiful keepsakes. I am blessed to be able to share with so many as gifts, not only with family and friends . . .but that person the comes my way in this life that needs that warm sense of home, the old days, the old ways and a touch of kindness. Something they can wrap themselves up in for the hug when they need one. Love comes to us in many forms even in the form of quilt, be it new or old . . . just knowing a pair of hands filled with true kindness took the time to create "love in color", to be shared today ,yesterday and for generations to come. Thank you again. Our Lord's Blessings, Mrs. Lyon, Arizona

Oh my goodness!!! I have goose bumps after having just opened the Balloon Ride Teddy Bear quilt. The picture did it no justice. It is precious!! The quilting is far above what I hoped for, and I KNOW it will be loved, used, and I hope passed on to the next generation of Drurys. I will tell everyone I know about your beautiful quilts. Thank you so very much. I will send a picture of the twins with the quilt very soon. - Lynn Drury, Maryland

I purchased Border Blast from Barbara and love it. The quilt is beautiful and well-made. Barbara was a pleasure to deal with and the transaction was very easy. - D. H., Virginia

_Crowning Glory - A Commissioned Quilt
Size: 101 x 101 inches (Queen or King Size)
Description: I was commissioned to make this quilt by my best customer who has also become a blessed friend. The quilt was shown in two different colorways but when I asked which she preferred, she left the decision to me, so I combined the two and I am thrilled with the result. Piecing this quilt was a true exercise in patience as all the pieces are cut on the bias and there are numerous set in angles. Believe me when I say that I became proficient at working with both. Jackie Animas is a gifted designer and I look forward to taking on the challenge of many more of her designs. The fabric is from the Somerset collection by Benartex. I always use double-fold French binding for durability. It is machine-stitched to the front and hand-sewn to the back. The back is a cream-colored cotton sateen and I quilted an all-over feathered flower design.

_Darling Dresdens

_Darling Dresdens
Size: 96 x 96 inches (Queen or King Size)
Description: I have always wanted to make a Dresden Plate quilt but have always been intimidated by hand applique. I took a class which made me more comfortable so I decided to go for it. I love the 1930's reproduction fabrics and thought they would be perfect for this project. I saw an ad for a Craftsy Class called Machine Quilting With Templates which was being taught by Kim Brunner, one of my favorite longarm quilters, so I bought the class and was thrilled that she was quilting a Dresden made from 1930's reproduction fabrics. Living in a small, rural town my internet is so slow that you can watch 5 minutes and it buffers for 30 minutes so I lost patience and decided to quilt this with an all-over, feathered-flower design. The back is a white tone-on-tone. I always use double-fold French binding for durability. It is machine-stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back.
I will gladly, at no charge, hand sew a personalized, computer-generated label to the back of any of my quilts.

_Day & Night

_Day & Night
Size: 94 x 106 inches (Queen or King Size)
Description: I saw this quilt in a quilt shop and fell in love with it. It was done in traditional patriotic red, white and blue, but I thought it would be stunning done in American colors so I went shopping. I love the rich texture of batiks and found a deep navy, brilliant cranberry and light grey with hints of green. When the quilt top was done my impression was "striking!" This is an old pattern that was updated by Eleanor Burns and she made this quilt a pleasure to piece although quite time consuming. The top is 100% quilt shop quality cotton batik and the back is 100% premium quality muslin. I pieced the quilt and it was custom quilted by Lou's Heartfelt Quilting.

_Dresden Dahlias
Size: 97 x 97 inches (Queen or King Size)
Description: If you read the description of the Darling Dresdens' quilt, you know the story behind my decision to piece and applique the quilt. That quilt is beautiful as quilted but I was so disappointed in myself for not completing it as planned that I decided to piece and applique another quilt. Quitting is not in my DNA so I took the class in 5-minute intervals taking notes and drawing pictures and when I was confident that I actually knew what I was doing I custom-quilted it with templates. When it was done I must have stared at it for at least an hour and patted myself on the back several times. I always use double-fold French binding for durability. It is machine-stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The back is a white tone-on-tone and the quilt is custom-quilted with Kim Brunner's instructions for creating a Dresden Dahlia pattern.
I will gladly, at no charge, hand sew a personalized, computer-generated label to the back of any of my quilts.

_English Garden
Size: 94 x 114 inches (Queen or King Size)
Description: I prefer to hang my quilts for pictures but the weather would not cooperate, so this quilt is shown on a queen-size bed. It would also work well on a king. It is made using the Butterfly Forest collection by Ann Lauer for Benartex. I have looked at the pictures on my desktop, iPad and iPhone and just want to note that the background fabric is a really pale green. The other colors seem more true. Some Storm at Sea and Chain of Squares piecing create this beautiful quilt. The butterflies at the top and bottom are machine-appliqued. The back of the quilt is a print that coordinates with the front. I quilted an all-over feathered flower design. I always use double-fold French binding for durability. It is machine-sewn to the front and hand-sewn to the back.

For sale with permission of designer/publisher.

_Everglade
Size: 94.5 x 108 (King or Generous Queen Size)
Description: This is a Block of the Month quilt made from the Splash collection by Blank Quilting. I saw this quilt in a quilt store in Washington and had to make it. I wanted the quilt a little larger so I added the offset stars to the borders. The designer suggested saving the scraps from the various blocks and making additional stars. By the time I finished the quilt I was tired of stars but I think they really made the quilt "twinkle". The green background fabric is so rich that from a distance it looks like velvet. The backing is the same green fabric and I quilted an all over Chantilly Lace design.
I will gladly, at no charge, hand sew a personalized computer-generated label to the back of my quilts. All you have to do is let me know what you would like on the label.
